Brother Toad and the Giants - Print
- Customer Reviews (1)
Giants are mean and hate everyone; dragonflies are food, not friends; and nobody is as important as the toads. That's what the Wise One says, at least. But one curious little toad, fresh from the pond, asks, "Why?" In fact, he has a lot of questions, so Brother Toad sets off into the Big Wide World, seeking answers. Along the way, however, he finds trouble. . . big trouble. When the giants pollute and destroy his wetlands, it's up to Brother Toad to save his family. With the help of some unlikely friends, Brother Toad learns the truth about the giants, the dragonflies, and the Big Wide World. In the end, he proves that everyone is important, and that even one little toad can make a big difference in the world—he just has to be brave, curious, and clever. Based on a true story, this family-friendly tale encourages everyone to ask questions, explore the world, and learn about the people and creatures in it. With an emphasis on conservation and kindness to nature, this book blends an action-packed story, beautiful, hand-painted artwork, an informative non-fiction section, and a special invitation from the author to create a wonderful book for all ages. A portion of each sale will be donated to Northwest Trek Wildlife Park in Washington state. **All ages, educational. Intended for adults and children.

Excellent read. - Tuesday, May 24, 2016It has been a while since I read a children's book but with a tour as a babysitter for my friends 7 year old girl, Gracie, I chose this book to be reunited with the bedtime story tradition. Brother Toad is a sincere and fun chapter story about a young toad and his dear friend Ashna as they both mature and discover the very big world they live in. The story was a very fun read and my little guest was captivated with the story, so much so that we completed the story the next morning over breakfast instead of waiting until bedtime the next day. The story's message is really twofold in my eyes, one being stated (you will have to read it to learn it) and the other a wonderful message on the world we live in and being kind to all the creatures we share it with. The book also has a short story of the real Brother Toad and some pictures so you can build a toad friendly habitat in your garden/backyard as a bonus. After building two " toad bunkers" in my backyard with Gracie I think I clinched Best Uncle awards.
My friend and my wife still cannot believe I pulled it off. 😉
